〈 Rekifune River 〉
The Rekifune River is 64.7 km long and flows through the town of Taiki from its beginning until it flows out to the sea. It is rare that this size of river is flowing through only one town even in Hokkaido.
It has been selected as the cleanest river in Japan 6 times in the past by the Environmental Agency.
The river is also called the Hikata River, and is sometimes referred to as the "River of Treasure" due to the fact that gold dust has been dug in this area.
There is also a park golf course on the riverbed.
Every year from late April to early May, the "Rekifune River Clear Stream Koinobori" is held, in which carp streamers swim across the width of the river.
