The owner, who has loved traveling since he was a university student and has traveled all over Japan, dreamed that "someday I would like to open an accommodation in the nature of Hokkaido" and bought a 30-year old farmhouse that had been abandoned, renovated it, and opened this guesthouse (single gender shared room) in 2017.
The word "Utari" means "friend or relative" in the Ainu language, and the name was chosen in the hope that travelers will feel as if they were casually staying at a friend or relative's house.
The inn is surrounded by the peaceful scenery typical of Hokkaido.
